Tories announce public sector pay freeze from 2011

Dear all,

For your information, this afternoon Shadow Chancellor, George Osborne, has announced to Tory delegates at their conference in Manchester that a Conservative government would impose a 12-month public sector pay freeze in 2011. This would be after the start of the third stage of the police officer three-year pay deal, but demonstrates the importance of future negotiation leading beyond the current three-year settlement.

So, from the Chancellor's announcement last night and the Shadow Chancellor's announcement this morning, it seems both a Conservative or Labour government would honour the existing arrangement.

Forwarded for your information.

Regards
